I was never a big fan of seagulls. To me, they are “beach pigeons” – or rats with wings.
Years ago, while having dinner at a park, a seagull swooped down and took food right out of my four-year old son’s mouth.
This incident made for an unpleasant carry shuttering child to the car evening. All I could think about was Hitchcock’s The Birds and Tippy Hedren bleeding all over or trapped in a telephone booth.
Yet, as I have done many shoots at the beach, I have found seagulls to be intelligent, inquisitive, and quite photogenic.
Like this little guy. He posed for me for over ten minutes – watching everything I was doing and bobbing his head up and down as I spoke to him.
